How do I update or change my account email?
### Account Setup

You can access your account details and change your account email by selecting the avatar in the top right of your [Paperform Dashboard](https://paperform.co/dashboard/) and selecting "Account Settings".

You'll immediately be taken to your overall account settings, including 'Account Details' which will allow you to change a number of details including the email associated with the account.

When you click "Change account email":

 1. You will be prompted to enter your password to authorize the change. (I f you usually sign in using your Google Account, you may need to [reset your password](https://paperform.co/help/articles/how-do-i-change-or-update-my-password/) first).
 1. After doing so, a notification is sent to your *current email* that a change has been requested.
 1. In addition, a verification request is sent to your *new account email* which you will have to complete to finalize the change.

> **Note:** If you open the verification link on a browser that was *not* previously logged in to Paperform, you will need to login using your *old* email address for the change to take effect.

After the verification step is complete, you will see the new email address listed under the Account Details page.

## Gotchas

If you're looking to change your account email to one that's already associated with a Paperform account, we recommend first trying to regain access to the original account by resetting the password.

If you can't use the original account using your email address, you must first go to your [account's billing settings](https://paperform.co/account/billing/) and destroy the existing account with the email address you're looking to use. Then, reach out to us in the support chat or by email at support@paperform.co and we can review your case.

If you originally signed up with your Google Account, a Paperform password would not have been generated for your account, so you will need to [reset your password](https://paperform.co/help/articles/how-do-i-change-or-update-my-password/) before changing your email.
