Can I capture a payment and process it later?
### Payments

Yes, we currently support authorizing payments with Stripe or PayPal. This means that a payment made on the form is authorized, but not processed immediately. The payment can then be captured or canceled manually later via the Stripe Dashboard or via PayPal.

### How do I set this up?

In the form editor for the form you would like to have the payment authorized for, do the following:

 1. Go to Configure → Payments.
 1. When the selected payment account is a Stripe or PayPal account, there is an option called “Authorize payment for future capture”. Toggle on this option and you’re good to go!

### **Gotchas**

 - Authorized payments are only available with the credit card checkout. If, for example, you use a different Stripe payment source (*e.g.* iDEAL pay), then the charge will fail to be created and the submitter will have to provide credit card details.
 - Authorized payments cannot be captured for [Subscription field](https://paperform.co/help/articles/stripe-braintree-recurring-payments/) payments.
