Can I select a default answer for my questions?
### Configuring Behavior

Most of our [field types](https://paperform.co/help/articles/what-types-of-questions-or-fields-do-paperform-forms-have/) can support default answers for your forms. Here's how you can set them up:

 1. Navigate to the form editor.
 1. Locate the field you'd like to add a default answer for.
 1. Click on the field, and then click on the configuration panel to the right.
 1. A popup will appear containing configuration options for your field. Scroll until you find one labelled "Default Answer".
 1. Depending on the field type, you may be able to select *or* manually enter your default answer.

### Unsupported Field Types

The following field types do not support default answers:

 - [Address](https://paperform.co/help/articles/address-field/)
 - [Appointment](https://paperform.co/help/articles/how-can-i-accept-appointments-on-my-form/)
 - [File Upload](https://paperform.co/help/articles/can-my-audience-upload-files-to-paperform-forms/)
 - [Image Upload](https://paperform.co/help/articles/can-my-audience-upload-files-to-paperform-forms/)
 - [Signature](https://paperform.co/help/articles/esignature-field/)

Although we don't support default answers for these field types, you **can** still use the alternatives listed below:

 - [Pre-filling](https://help.paperform.co/form-design-and-behavior/behavior/what-is-pre-filling-and-how-does-it-work) forms with personal information.
 - Adding placeholder text to hint or suggest an answer before users start typing an answer.
 - Use [answer piping](https://paperform.co/help/articles/answer-piping-guide/) to pipe/insert answers into other parts of the form.
